Signals we looked at
1. Read the writing style
We measure signals like burstiness (how much sentence length varies), stock chatbot phrasing, transitions and personal voice.
2. Ask an AI model to judge
An AI model reviews each section for hallmarks of machine vs. human writing. We combine both into one AI-vs-human estimate.
3. Check for copied text
We also search the web and Wikipedia for distinctive sentences and flag passages copied or closely paraphrased, with sources.
How accurate is the AI detection?
It's an estimate. Detectors look for statistical patterns, and those patterns overlap between people and models. Short texts, formal writing, and edited AI output are especially hard to call. Use the score with judgment, never as proof on its own.
How thorough is the web-copy check?
We sample up to 8 distinctive passages, search the public web and Wikipedia, and read up to 8 of the best-matching pages. It catches copied and lightly reworded web content well, but it can't see paywalled content, private documents, or every page on the internet. A clean result means no matches were found, not that matches can't exist.
Do you store my text?
No. Your text is processed only to run the check and isn't saved. Passages are sent to search engines as queries, and to Cloudflare Workers AI for analysis.
Are there limits?
Up to 2,000 words per check, a few checks per minute, and a daily cap per visitor to keep the service free.
